Year 1

Look at our recent learning:

Science and Laudato Si

We are growing beans and seeds on, this is forming part of our school work on Laudato Si, Pope Francis’ message for us to care for our common home.

We went on a local area walk and looked at the river Roch.  We noticed that our local area has lots of litter and needs improving.  When we came back to school we wrote to the council to see if they could help us.

Our daily routine:

Year 1 come into school and complete a morning activity, this is either a handwriting, maths or phonics activity.   We then start our day by taking the register and lighting our candles and saying our morning prayer.  Year 1 then split with Reception and Year 2 to work in small focused phonics groups on a 20minutes phonics lesson.  Our day then continues with Maths till break time, then English and Handwriting before lunch.  After lunch we take the register, brush our teeth and then do our Guided Reading.  After Guided Reading we either spend the afternoon working on Religious Education, Topic, Science, ICT or P.E  We then have a story at the end of the day and get ready to go home.
